MailChimp Speed Diagnostic

Interpreting Your Results

If you receive a lower than expected kbps reading or a latency range higher than 2 and are experiencing trouble using the MailChimp application, please contact MailChimp customer support.

This is a measure of the data rate of your connection (your connection speed) measured in kilobits per second. Most DSL users can expect to be in the 768-5,000 kbps range and most cable mode m users can expect to be in the 1,000-8,000 kbps range. (This all depends on what type of service plan you have signed up for.) Most office connections will have at least a T1 line installed and o ffice users can expect to be in the 1,000-10,000 kbps range. This test measures 2 connections: first the data rate to the MailChimp application servers and second the data rate to the MailChimp Con tent Delivery Network (CDN.) The CDN is used to send various images and style related files from servers that are closer to the end user so that the application will load faster. Within the US, yo u would expect the data rate to the MailChimp application servers and to the MailChimp CDN to be fairly similar (within about 25% or so.) Outside of the US, the data rate to the CDN will typically be higher than to the application servers.

This is a rough measure of how long it takes to make the initial data connection for sending each unit of data. A reading of 0 to 1 is acceptable. A reading of 2 or higher usually will indicate that there is a slow point somewhere in the connection from your ISP to either the MailChimp application servers or to the MailChimp CDN.
